Science Field Trips

Some A-3 students have participated in fields in the last month to extend their learning experience in their enrichment programs.

The first trip was to the Corning Museum of Glass. The students were given a tour of the museum focusing on the history of glass, the design and use. We were then able to view a live glass blowing show and learned of the chemistry of glass, what Gaffer's do and the process of designing different pieces of dishware. As an incentive, the students were able to decorate a drinking glass to take home while learning of the stand blasting process. Here is the website if you'd like more information on family programs.
Students were taking a quiz on the chemistry of glass

A-3 students were decorating their drinking glass as part of the sand blasting activity.

A student was learning of reflection and refraction and how sound travels with glass

The second field trip was to the Rochester Museum and Science Center. This trip was a big hit with the students! There was so much history, nature expos and fun things for students to do. We will have to visit again next year! Check out their website here!

Students took part of a volcano and under water simulation ride. Once we found this, they didn't want to leave!

Students did a mock archaeological dig to find artifacts that were found in the region.

The next scheduled field trip is to The George Eastman House and Rock Ventures in Rochester on April 26th. There will be a post with pictures of the event!

Thanks for keeping up the A-3 program at Bradford :)
